CALL TO WORSHIP (Responsive)

Liturgist: From the beginning, God entered into relationship with the human family: with Adam and Eve, Noah Abraham and Sarah, Moses, Deborah, Ruth and Jeremiah.

All: Through baptism, Jesus Christ calls us into relationship and makes us ministers of Christ’s righteousness.

Liturgist: All Christian ministry is Christ’s work of outreaching love.  It demonstrates a common life of gratitude and devotion, witness and service, celebration and discipleship.

All: All Christians are called to Christ’s servanthood in the world, to express God’s compassion and to be what God created us to be.

Liturgist: The Church, as the community of the new covenant, participates in Christ’ ministry of grace.

All: It stretches out to human needs

Wherever service may convey God’s love and ours.

HYMN: #176 “Majesty, Worship His Majesty”

PRAYER OF APPROACH (In unison) Responding to God’s call

Gracious God, you created us in your own image, set us in a garden filled with living creatures and instructed us to nurture and keep it. In the cool of the evening you came looking for us, but we hid ourselves from you. Throughout history, you have continued to come to us, and we have continued to turn ourselves from you.

Help us to stop hiding from you. Let us stand before you now, acknowledging our temptations, seeking your sustaining presence and accepting your grace found in Jesus Christ. Amen
